Why a working attorney runs a free clinic

The gap is real

Most civil legal problems in this country are handled with no lawyer at all, because hiring one makes no economic sense for a $2,000 deposit or a $5,000 invoice. That band is exactly where self-help tools plus honest triage work best. This clinic exists for the matters the legal market prices out.

I started in a clinic

As a law student at Boston University School of Law, I worked as a student-lawyer in the Employment Rights Clinic, representing people who could not otherwise afford counsel. The Employment Rights Clinic here is my way of continuing that work at internet scale: the same triage thinking, delivered by tools that never sleep.

AI changed the math

One attorney could never answer thousands of questions a month. An attorney-curated AI can, against materials I wrote, with guardrails I enforce. About 27,000 people use the free resources on this site every month; the overwhelming majority never pay anything and are never asked to.

What this clinic is not. The clinic is a self-help and information resource. Using it does not create an attorney-client relationship, the AI Legal Analyst does not give legal advice, and nothing here substitutes for advice from a lawyer who has reviewed your specific situation. Much of the substantive content focuses on California law.

When the matter is worth a lawyer

Some problems need attorney judgment, not another template. Every service on this site is a published flat fee, so you know the total cost before you write to me. Two business day turnaround on most documents.
