Access to Justice Lab ยท Partners

Built to be shared

If you run a program that serves people navigating legal problems without a lawyer, the Lab is designed to work alongside you, with attribution, disclosures, and quality controls preserved.

Who this is for

Public libraries

A free, plain-language legal self-help tool patrons can use at a kiosk or from home.

Law-school clinics

A teaching example of attorney-supervised legal AI, and a first-line triage tool for intake.

Community organizations & worker centers

A way to help members understand a problem and preserve evidence before it is too late.

Legal-aid organizations

A self-help front end for the many people who fall just outside eligibility or capacity.

Bar associations

A concrete example of responsible AI in access-to-justice work, with published quality data.

Court self-help programs

A tool that routes people to the right official form and forum, not away from the court.

No partnership is claimed that does not exist. This page is an open invitation, not a list of endorsements.

What an embedded clinic preserves

A future embeddable version is part of the design. Wherever a clinic runs, it carries the same guarantees:

  • Attribution to Terms.Law and the named supervising attorney.
  • The same disclosures: attorney-supervised information, not legal advice; no attorney-client relationship.
  • The jurisdiction and "law reviewed as of" date on every pathway.
  • The same primary-source grounding and deadline caution described in the methodology.
  • The same privacy posture: no unnecessary sensitive data collected, and public clinic sessions are not confidential.

What the Lab is not

Terms.Law is a commercial California law practice, not a nonprofit, legal-aid organization, government agency, or charity. A partnership does not make the Lab your organization's legal counsel, and it does not create an attorney-client relationship with the people who use an embedded clinic. Any state-specific module outside California would be published only after review by counsel licensed in that state.
