UPDATE on the dental NCA thread. consulted local employment attorney ($425), got a written opinion that 5-year non-compete unlikely enforceable in OH for an associate dentist with 18 months tenure. wrote a polite letter to practice owner offering: stay 60 more days for transition + comply w/ a 1-year non-solicit on patients i actually treated, in exchange for written release.

he agreed yesterday. signed the release this morning. starting at the new practice next month.

great outcome. clean exit + reasonable transition is usually achievable. always get the release in writing. congrats.

$425 for an attorney consultation that saved you years of legal exposure is a bargain. always worth the investment.

the calm, written, reasonable approach almost always works better than threats or aggressive moves. nice work.
