I'm dealing with a situation in Oregon and need some guidance.

unpaid internship at for-profit company. I've been dealing with this for about 16 weeks now and teh situation isn't improving.

I have worked at this company for 3 years. My position is exempt and I do have a written employment agreement beyond the standard offer letter.

Has anyone been through something similar? What worked for you?

Been there. Here's what I learned.

I ended up filing with the appropriate government agency, which cost about $4-8 but saved me a lot more in the long run.

This happened to my coworker too.

What worked for me was hiring an attorney to send the initial letter. It took 2-4 months but was worth it.

Has anyone mentioned the WARN Act? If there were 100+ employees and they didn't give 60 days notice, that's a separate federal claim worth pursuing.

I consulted with three different employment attorneys before finding one who would take my case on contingency. Don't get discouraged if the first one says no — each lawyer evaluates risk differently.
