On mobile so apologies for formatting. Quick background on my situation — any input appreciated.

employer changed my status to contractor. I've been dealing with this for about 2 weeks now and the situation isn't improving.

I have worked at this company for 9 years. My position is exempt and I do not have a written employment agreement beyond the standard offer letter.

Am I overthinking this or is this a real legal issue worth pursuing?

Just want to point out — the statute of limitations might be a factor here. In some states it's as short as 1-2 years. Don't sit on this too long.

Honestly? I'd get a consult. Changed my whole perspective when I did.

NAL, but from what I've read, you should document everything. But honestly you should verify this with someone who knows your state's laws fwiw.

I work in this industry and unfortunately this is very common. The good news is that when people actually push back with legal representation, companies usually settle.
