Quick background on my situation in New Jersey — any input appreciated.

competing offer triggered retaliation. I've been dealing with this for about 9 months now and the situation isn't improving.

I have worked at this company for 4 years. My position is exempt and I do have a written employment agreement beyond the standard offer letter.

Do I have a strong case? What should my next steps be?

Attorney here. Here's my take on the legal issues.

This is a common situation and the law is fairly clear. Under the FMLA, qualifying and covered.

I'd recommend documenting everything in writing from this point forward. Keep copies of all communications.

I mean not gonna lie, I put off calling an attorney for weeks. Wish I hadn't waited lol.

Just want to point out — the statute of limitations might be a factor here. In some states it's as short as 1-2 years. Don't sit on this too long.

NAL, but from what I've read, you should check your state's specific laws. That's the general rule anyway, exceptions exist.

Just consulted with an attorney about my case. The initial consultation was free and they took it on contingency (no upfront cost, they take a percentage of the recovery). If your case has strong merits, many attorneys will work on contingency.
