So basically i'm dealing with a situation in Colorado and need some guidance.

supervisor making racist comments. I've been dealing with this for about 6 months now and the situation isn't improving.

I have worked at this company for 12 years. My position is exempt and I do not have a written employment agreement beyond the standard offer letter.

What's the typical outcome in situations like this?

This happened to me too. Have you tried filing a complaint with the relevant agency? In my case they investigated and it got resolved without needing a lawyer.

I've handled similar cases. Here's my take on the legal issues.

The legal framework here involves both federal and state law. At the federal level, OSHA regulations. Your state may provide additional protections.

I'd recommend documenting everything in writing from this point forward. Keep copies of all communications.

NAL, but from what I've read, you should send a written demand. Take the above with a huge disclaimer that I'm just some person on the internet tbh.

This is depressingly common.

The magic words were "let me speak to your supervisor"/manager. It took 1-3 months but was worth it.

I've dealt with this before.

In my case, it took about 2-4 months to resolve. The key was hiring an attorney to send the initial letter.

Have you tried reaching out to your state's bar association? They sometimes have free resources or mediation services.

I spent way more time googling than I should have before just calling a lawyer.

Not a lawyer if that makes sense, but I have direct experience with this.

The trap most people fall into is filing with the appropriate government agency. I'd recommend gathering evidence first instead fwiw.

Just want to point out — the statute of limitations might be a factor here. In some states it's as short as 1-2 years. Don't sit on this too long.
