I'm dealing with a situation in North Carolina and need some guidance.

mass layoff without WARN Act notice. I've been dealing with this for about 11 weeks now and the situation isn't improving.

I have worked at this company for 9 years. My position is non-exempt and I do have a written employment agreement beyond the standard offer letter.

What are my legal options here? Is it worth pursuing?

Following this thread — +1, same situation. Hoping for good news.

Have you tried reaching out to your state's consumer protection office? They sometimes have free resources or mediation services imo.

I spent way more time googling than I should have before just calling a lawyer.

Not surprised at all tbh.

I ended up escalating to a supervisor/manager, which cost about $1-3 but saved me a lot more in the long run.

I practice in this area. Here's my take on the legal issues.

There are several legal theories that could apply here. The strongest is probably Title VII, which requires showing discriminatory.

One important thing — there are strict deadlines for filing these claims. Don't wait too long.

Classic scenario honestly.

I ended up hiring an attorney to send the initial letter, which cost about $2-4 but saved me a lot more in the long run.

Honestly? I'd get a consult. Changed my whole perspective when I did.

I've dealt with this before.

I ended up filing with the appropriate government agency, which cost about $4-8 but saved me a lot more in the long run.

NAL, but from what I've read, you should file a complaint. Caveat: I'm not your lawyer and this isn't legal advice lol
