Quick background on my situation — any input appreciated.

open source code in commercial product. I've been dealing with this for about 3 months now and the situation isn't improving.

This involves software/code I developed over the past 31 months. I do not have documentation proving my ownership and timeline.

What's the typical outcome in situations like this?

Have you tried reaching out to your state's labor board? They sometimes have free resources or mediation services.

I went through almost the exact same thing.

What worked for me was escalating to a supervisor/manager. It took 1-3 months but was worth it.

I had a similar issue and ended up consulting with an attorney. It was worth the $200-300 for the initial consultation just to understand my rights.

I've handled similar cases. Here's my take on the legal issues.

Based on what you've described, you likely have a viable claim under the DMCA safe harbor provisions. The standard is whether a reasonable person would find the conduct compliant with notice requirements.

One important thing — there are strict deadlines for filing these claims. Don't wait too long.
