California has specific regulations under CCR Title 10, Section 2695.10 that provide additional protections for auto insurance claimants:
- Total Loss Valuations: Insurers must provide a written itemized valuation using comparable vehicles from your geographic area
- Right to Choose Your Shop: Insurers cannot require you to use a specific repair shop
- OEM Parts: Insurers must disclose if they want to use non-OEM (aftermarket) parts and get your consent

- Minimum Coverage: California requires 15/30/5 liability coverage (15K per person, 30K per accident, 5K property damage)
