I've been trying to resolve this on my own but I'm stuck.

client won't pay for completed work. I've been dealing with this for about 7 weeks now and the situation isn't improving.

The contract was signed 24 months ago. I am not sure I have the original signed copy. The total amount in dispute is approximately $17,000.

What are my legal options here? Is it worth pursuing?

I went through almost the exact same thing.

The biggest mistake people make in this situation is having everything documented. I'd recommend keeping a detailed timeline instead.

NAL, but from what I've read, you should check your state's specific laws. That said, definitely get a lawyer to look at the specifics.

I practice in this area. Here's my take on the legal issues.

There are several legal theories that could apply here. The strongest is probably UCC Article 2, which requires showing a material breach.

Before taking legal action, consider sending a formal demand letter. In many cases, this alone resolves the issue.

Following this thread — I'm in a very similar situation. Would love to hear how it turns out.

I've dealt with this before.

What worked for me was having everything documented. It took 3-6 months but was worth it.
