Quick background on my situation in Oregon — any input appreciated.

seller hid foundation problems. I've been dealing with this for about 6 weeks now and the situation isn't improving.

I have been in this property for 6 years. My monthly rent is $4,217. I have a written lease.

Should I hire a lawyer for this or try to handle it myself?

I've seen this play out several times in my field.

In my case, it took about 1-3 months to resolve. The key was escalating to a supervisor/manager.

I had a similar issue and ended up consulting with an attorney. It was worth the $200-300 for the initial consultation just to understand my rights.

I practice in this area. Here's my take on the legal issues.

Based on what you've described, you likely have a viable claim under the implied warranty of habitability. The standard is whether a reasonable person would find the conduct uninhabitable.

You should consult with a local attorney who handles these cases. Many offer free initial consultations.
