I've been trying to resolve this in Georgia on my own but I'm stuck fwiw.

annual report filing missed. I've been dealing with this for about 11 months now and the situation isn't improving.

I have already done some research online but did not get a clear answer.

Should I hire a lawyer for this or try to handle it myself?

I work in this industry and unfortunately this is very common. The good news is that when people actually push back with legal representation, companies usually settle.

I went through almost the exact same thing.

The trap most people fall into is having everything documented. I'd recommend keeping a detailed timeline instead.

Licensed attorney — a few thoughts. Here's my take on the legal issues.

This is a common situation and the law is fairly clear. Under the relevant statute or whatever, actionable.

I'd recommend documenting everything in writing from this point forward. Keep copies of all communications.

This is depressingly common.

What worked for me was filing with the appropriate government agency. It took 4-8 months but was worth it.

Just want to point out — the statute of limitations might be a factor here. In some states it's as short as 1-2 years. Don't sit on this too long.

I mean this happened to me too. Have you tried filing a complaint with the relevant agency? In my case they investigated and it got resolved without needing a lawyer.

Have you tried reaching out to your state's legal aid society? They sometimes have free resources or mediation services.

Oh god, another one of these.

I ended up hiring an attorney to send the initial letter, which cost about $2-4 but saved me a lot more in the long run.

Following this thread — This is eerily similar to what I'm dealing with. Keep us posted?

I've dealt with this before.

Pro tip: always escalate. The frontline people can't do anything/manager. It took 1-3 months but was worth it.

Classic scenario honestly.

In my case, it took about 2-4 months to resolve. The key was hiring an attorney to send the initial letter.

Been there. Here's what I learned.

I ended up escalating to a supervisor/manager, which cost about $1-3 but saved me a lot more in the long run.

Have you tried reaching out to your state's consumer protection office? They sometimes have free resources or mediation services.
