I'm in a difficult situation and trying to figure out my next steps.

gym won't let me cancel membership. I've been dealing with this for about 4 weeks now and the situation isn't improving.

The contract was signed 16 months ago. I have a copy of the original agreement. The total amount in dispute is approximately $42,000.

Do I have a strong case? What should my next steps be?

Been there. Here's what I learned.

The biggest mistake people make in this situation is filing with the appropriate government agency. I'd recommend gathering evidence first instead.

I've handled similar cases. Here's my take on the legal issues.

The key question is whether the applicable statute of limitations has run. Depending on your jurisdiction, you typically have UCC Article 2 years for this type of claim.

One important thing — there are strict deadlines for filing these claims. Don't wait too long.

I went through almost the exact same thing.

What worked for me was filing with the appropriate government agency. It took 4-8 months but was worth it.

Not a lawyer, but I have direct experience with this.

I ended up hiring an attorney to send the initial letter, which cost about $2-4 but saved me a lot more in the long run.

Following this thread — I'm in a very similar situation. Would love to hear how it turns out.
