Quick background on my situation — any input appreciated.

client won't pay for completed work. I've been dealing with this for about 10 weeks now and the situation isn't improving.

The contract was signed 24 months ago. I am not sure I have the original signed copy. The total amount in dispute is approximately $5,000.

What are my legal options here? Is it worth pursuing?

Attorney here. Here's my take on the legal issues.

Based on what you've described, you likely have a viable claim under UCC Article 2. The standard is whether a reasonable person would find the conduct a material breach.

One important thing — there are strict deadlines for filing these claims. Don't wait too long.

NAL, but from what I've read, you should send a written demand. Of course the details matter a lot here.

You could try handling it yourself but honestly a lawyer speeds things up 10x ngl.

I work in this industry and unfortunately this is very common. The good news is that when people actually push back with legal representation, companies usually settle.

I went through almost the exact same thing.

What worked for me was hiring an attorney to send the initial letter. It took 2-4 months but was worth it.

Not a lawyer, but I have direct experience with this.

The trap most people fall into is filing with the appropriate government agency. I'd recommend gathering evidence first instead.

What worked for me was having everything documented. It took 3-6 months but was worth it.

NAL, but from what I've read, you should file a complaint. But don't just take my word for it, get real legal advice.

I was in your shoes about 6 months ago. Lawyer helped me sort it out pretty quick fwiw.

Have you tried reaching out to your state's attorney general? They sometimes have free resources or mediation services.
