I've been trying to resolve this in North Carolina on my own but I'm stuck.

mold in apartment making family sick. I've been dealing with this for about 5 weeks now and the situation isn't improving.

Should I hire a lawyer for this or try to handle it myself?

Have you tried reaching out to your state's bar association? They sometimes have free resources or mediation services.

Not a lawyer, but I have direct experience with this.

I ended up having everything documented, which cost about $3-6 but saved me a lot more in the long run.

I've dealt with this before.

In my case, it took about 2-4 months to resolve. The key was hiring an attorney to send the initial letter.

Been there. Here's what I learned.

The #1 mistake I see here is filing with teh appropriate government agency. I'd recommend gathering evidence first instead.

I work in this industry and unfortunately this is very common. The good news is that when people actually push back with legal representation, companies usually settle.

Don't make the same mistake I did -- is filing with the appropriate government agency. I'd recommend gathering evidence first instead.

Going through an escrow dispute right now. Lesson learned: always get a separate inspection done before removing contingencies. The seller's disclosure is legally required but it's only as honest as the seller.
