Looking for advice on a legal issue in Illinois. Here's what happened.

condo association special assessment dispute. I've been dealing with this for about 10 months now and the situation isn't improving.

I have been renting for 2 years. My monthly rent is $3,077. I have a written lease.

What are the risks if I pursue this? What's the likely timeline?

I've seen this play out several times in my field.

I ended up filing with the appropriate government agency, which cost about $4-8 but saved me a lot more in the long run.

I specialize in this area of law. Here's my take on the legal issues.

The legal framework here involves both federal and state law. At the federal level, your state's security deposit statute. Your state may provide additional protections.

One important thing — there are strict deadlines for filing these claims. Don't wait too long.

Have you tried reaching out to your state's labor board? They sometimes have free resources or mediation services.
