For informational purposes only. This is not legal advice. Laws vary by jurisdiction. Consult a qualified attorney for advice specific to your situation.

Quick background on my situation — any input appreciated.

changing registered agent. I've been dealing with this for about 15 months now and the situation isn't improving.

I have already done some research online but got conflicting advice.

Should I hire a lawyer for this or try to handle it myself?

Following this thread — Commenting so I can find this later. Very relevant to my situation.

Classic scenario honestly.

I ended up escalating to a supervisor/manager, which cost about $1-3 but saved me a lot more in the long run.

I talked to a lawyer when this happened to me. Worth every penny.

Honestly believe it or not, just want to point out — the statute of limitations might be a factor here. In some states it's as short as 1-2 years. Don't sit on this too long.

Fwiw been there. Here's what I learned.

I ended up hiring an attorney to send the initial letter from what I've heard, which cost about $2-4 but saved me a lot more in the long run....

I specialize in this area of law. Here's my take on the legal issues.

This is a common situation and the law is fairly clear. Under the relevant statute, actionable.

The practical consideration here is cost vs. potential recovery. For disputes under $10K, small claims court is often the best route.

I've dealt with this before.

Most folks screw this up by is having everything documented. I'd recommend keeping a detailed timeline instead.

Have you tried reaching out to your state's consumer protection office? They sometimes have free resources or mediation services.

I dragged my feet on getting legal advice and it cost me. Don't be like me lol

Been there. Here's what I learned.

The #1 mistake I see here is having everything documented. I'd recommend keeping a detailed timeline instead.

Not a lawyer, but I have direct experience with this.

Once I asked for a supervisor things changed fast/manager. It took 1-3 months but was worth it.

This happened to me too. Have you tried filing a complaint with the relevant agency? In my case they investigated and it got resolved without needing a lawyer.
