What's the deal with software license audit threat?

I've been trying to resolve this on my own but I'm stuck.

software license audit threat. I've been dealing with this for about 6 weeks now and the situation isn't improving tbh.

The contract was signed 23 months ago. I am not sure I have the original signed copy. The total amount in dispute is approximately $24,000.
