I'm in a difficult situation and trying to figure out my next steps.

domestic partnership property rights. I've been dealing with this for about 14 months now and the situation isn't improving.

I have already done some research online but did not get a clear answer.

Has anyone been through something similar? What worked for you?

Licensed attorney — a few thoughts. Here's my take on the legal issues.

There are several legal theories that could apply here. The strongest is probably the relevant statute, which requires showing actionable.

The practical consideration here is cost vs. potential recovery. For disputes under $10K, small claims court is often the best route.

I went through almost teh exact same thing.

In my case, it took about 4-8 months to resolve. The key was filing with the appropriate government agency sadly.

I've dealt with this before.

I ended up hiring an attorney to send the initial letter, which cost about $2-4 but saved me a lot more in the long run.

I've been following this sub-topic closely. The consensus seems to be: document everything, consult an attorney early, and don't sign anything without reading it carefully.
