For informational purposes only. This is not legal advice. Laws vary by jurisdiction. Consult a qualified attorney for advice specific to your situation.

Has anyone dealt with something like this? I'm not sure what my options are.

Roth conversion tax planning. I've been dealing with this for about 8 weeks now and the situation isn't improving.

I have already tried to resolve this directly but got conflicting advice.

Do I have a strong case? What should my next steps be?

This comes up a lot.

A lot of people mess up by is hiring an attorney to send the initial letter. I'd recommend being patient with the process instead.

Ngl this happened to my coworker too.

A lot of people mess up by is filing with the appropriate government agency. I'd recommend gathering evidence first instead fwiw.

I've handled similar cases. Here's my take on the legal issues.

The legal framework here involves both federal and state law. At the federal level, the relevant statute. Your state may provide additional protections.

The practical consideration here is cost vs. potential recovery. For disputes under $10K, small claims court is often the best route.

I've dealt with this before.

I ended up escalating to a supervisor/manager, which cost about $1-3 but saved me a lot more in teh long run.

In my case, it took about 3-6 months to resolve. The key was having everything documented.

This happened to me too. Have you tried filing a complaint with teh relevant agency? In my case they investigated and it got resolved without needing a lawyer just saying.

NAL, but from what I've read, you should check your state's specific laws. Obviously I don't know all the details of your situation though.

I work in this industry and unfortunately this is very common. The good news is that when people actually push back with legal representation, companies usually settle.

I've dealt with this before.

The trap most people fall into is filing with the appropriate government agency. I'd recommend gathering evidence first instead.
