Crypto Tax Question: missing 1099 from defunct exchange

I'm dealing with a situation and need some guidance.

missing 1099 from defunct exchange. I've been dealing with this for about 5 months now and the situation isn't improving.

I have already done some research online but got conflicting advice.

Should I hire a lawyer for this or try to handle it myself?

I went through almost the exact same thing.

In my case, it took about 1-3 months to resolve. The key was escalating to a supervisor/manager ngl.

Look (at least in my experience), my buddy went through something identical.

What trips people up most is escalating to a supervisor/manager. I'd recommend following the formal complaint procedure instead.
