I mean i'm dealing with a situation and need some guidance tbh.

Etsy holding funds for 45 days. I've been dealing with this for about 13 months now and the situation isn't improving.

What's the typical outcome in situations like this?

Been there. Here's what I learned.

A lot of people mess up by is escalating to a supervisor/manager. I'd recommend following teh formal complaint procedure instead just saying.

Not a lawyer, but I have direct experience with this.

What trips people up most is filing with the appropriate government agency. I'd recommend gathering evidence first instead.

Honestly, i've handled similar cases. Here's my take on the legal issues.

There are several legal theories that could apply here. The strongest is probably the EFTA, which requires showing timely disputed.

The practical consideration here is cost vs. potential recovery. For disputes under $10K, small claims court is often the best route fr fr.

I went through almost the exact same thing.

What worked for me was filing with the appropriate government agency. It took 4-8 months but was worth it fwiw.

Etsy updated their payment reserve policy in late 2025. They now hold funds for up to 45 days for flagged sellers, but you can request a manual review.

If they still refuse to release, file a complaint with your state consumer protection division. Etsy is a money transmitter in most states.

Just an update: I won my eBay case after escalating to their Trust & Safety team (separate from regular customer service). The key was providing photo documentation with timestamps.
