I've been trying to resolve this on my own but I'm stuck.

wedding vendor no-show. I've been dealing with this for about 2 weeks now and the situation isn't improving.

The contract was signed 15 months ago. I am not sure I have the original signed copy. The total amount in dispute is approximately $107,000.

What are the risks if I pursue this? What's the likely timeline?

I've handled similar cases. Here's my take on the legal issues.

This is a common situation and the law is fairly clear. Under UCC Article 2, a material breach.

I'd at least do a free phone consult with someone. Can't hurt.

Oh god, another one of these.

In my case, it took about 2-4 months to resolve. The key was hiring an attorney to send the initial letter.

I've dealt with this before.

What worked for me was filing with the appropriate government agency. It took 4-8 months but was worth it.

Oh my god, I lived through this exact nightmare last summer. Our photographer just did not show up on our wedding day. No call, no text, nothing. We found out later she had double-booked and chose the higher-paying event. I am still furious thinking about it but I did get a resolution, so let me share what worked.

First thing I did was gather every piece of evidence: the signed contract, all email and text communications, proof of payments made, and documentation of the replacement photographer we had to hire at the last minute (which cost us 3x the original price because it was same-day). I also had guests who were willing to provide statements about the impact on our event.

Also leave honest reviews everywhere. It will not get you your money back, but it will warn other couples. And check if the vendor has insurance, as many event vendors carry professional liability insurance that covers exactly this type of claim.
